UGANDA Karamojong headdress (Emedot)

Karamojong men are divided into age/peer groups that are associated with warrior status. Upon initiation, men shave their heads and are entitled to wear the Emedot, an adult headdress. A man’s social status and rank are indicated by the color of the ostrich feathers attached to his mudpack coiffure.
