United States- San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico - Deer Dance headdress

Performed every February, the dance calls upon the deer to settle in nearby grazing areas and to increase in numbers. The headdresses are made by the male dancers of marsh weeds and deer antlers. The white cotton crown represents snow.
